Dr Eleanor Trethewey

Registered Psychologist

BA (Hons), DPsych (Clinical)

Eleanor has completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and holds membership with the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. She has published several articles in the field of clinical psychology and has experience working with adults and adolescents across outpatient, inpatient, and community settings. Alongside her private practice work, Eleanor holds a public hospital position supporting adults with cancer.

Eleanor enjoys supporting individuals experiencing a broad range of psychological challenges, including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, trauma, grief and loss, identity and self-esteem concerns, and relationship difficulties. She is particularly passionate about helping clients navigate the impact of physical illness, injury, or disability on their wellbeing, including cancer, chronic pain or fatigue, cardiac and neurological conditions, and adjustment following traumatic injury.

Her approach to therapy is gentle, collaborative, and inclusive. She strives to create a safe and welcoming space where clients from all backgrounds and identities, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, feel heard and respected. Therapy is tailored to each person’s goals and values, drawing on evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

Eleanor was drawn to The Clinical and Health Psychology Group to work alongside like-minded psychologists in a supportive and person-centred environment.
