Dr Hunter Mulcare

Clinical Health Psychologist

BSc(Hons), DPsych(Hlth), MPsych(Clin), MAPS

Hunter has been working as a psychologist since 2008 and holds endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist and a Health Psychologist, he is also a Registered Supervisor with AHPRA.

Hunter has extensive experience working acute and chronic health problems and in particular with cancer patients. He completed his Doctoral thesis through the Petermac and ran psycho-oncology clinics at two public hospitals over a number of years. He also worked as a Senior Psychologist for Western Health on general medical wards.

Hunter also completed a Masters in Clinical Psychology where he developed an interest in treating eating disorders (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulima). He was trained in Family-based Therapy through the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Hunter brings a warm, friendly and practical approach to therapy. He enjoys working with all types of psychological problems, including mood and anxiety problems, relationship problems, trauma, health issues, and anorexia nervosa in adolescents.

He works using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Existential Psychology and Motivational Interviewing. For treatment of eating disorders he works using SSCM, CBT-E and FBT.

He is always keen to learn more about psychology and previously co-hosted and produced the psychology podcast Two Shrinks Pod.

In addition to taking on clients he is available for clinical supervision (either ongoing or one off appointments).
